Appropriate. Proportional. Professional. Warranted.
That's how the SQ described their actions in Victorialville last week.
Inappropriate. Unprofessional. Unwarrented. That's how I would describe the actions of MNA Amir Khadir today.
The co-sponsor of the joint motion condemning the métro closure later asked if someone trying to discredit the students was behind the smoke bombs, recalling past incidents of agents provocateurs working for the police. Someone working for the police? Mr. Khadir went on to say the students had no interest in taking such action, which would reflect badly on their cause and could help the Charest government win votes. Refering to the agents provocateurs working for the police, “Let’s pray it isn’t that,” he said and wants a public inquiry to dispel that possibility.
While I do think anarchists, not students could be involved or extremist students, I don't think anyone working for the police was behind today's unacceptable actions. I also don't think a public inquiry is needed.
Another thing Amir Khadir said was that “stupid people exist,”. There is plenty of evidence to support that.
