	Is the new Volkswagen commerical racist? Posted By: Ric Peterson ric@cjad.astral.com · 1/30/2013 7:53:00 AM Volkswagen previewed a new ad for the Super Bowl this week, and some people are complaining because they think it's racist. The ad is about a white guy who drives a Volkswagen, and talks in a Jamaican accent because his car makes him happy. Volkswagen consulted 100 Jamaicans to get the accent right, and none objected when they saw the ad. An ad expert on the NBC "Today" show yesterday said it was racist because it says all Jamaicans are happy. Host Matt Lauer feels the ad is just trying to make people associate Volkswagen cars with the kind of happiness you have when you go on vacation in the Caribbean. I agree. Not sure how many cars it will sell but I smiled when I watched it, it made me feel happy. What do you think? Barry posted on 01/30/2013 08:31 AM OMG. Some people really need to get a life and a dictionary. There is nothing racist about this ad. What is negative or discriminatory about being happy? Also if he had grown up in Jamaica and the accent was natural would there still be a problem? But guess what? Not everyone who lives there is black.
