Alex was happy to speak English to me.

Posted By: Ric Peterson · 2/22/2013 3:27:00 PM

Alex Norris, Montreal city council member representing the opposition Projet Montréal in Mile End was heavily criticized today because he was asked a question at a public event in English and he chose to respond in French.  The woman who asked the question declined to join me on the show today but Alex did agree in what he called his last interview on the subject, and in English.

In the rest of Canada if you have an audience full of english people they will not even answer you and say "Sorry I don't understand your question because I don't speak french." So you are lucky in Québec.

French is the official language of Québec and you are a minority. Get used to it.

And still after this interview Norris comes off as an arrogant coward. It's now the girl's agenda to stir up linguistic problems? Laughable.Let's see you answer a francophone in english in a mostly english fora. First thing crossing your mind is your derriere and making sure it's covered by answering in French. Afterwhich you'll probably reason it with: we must include everyone.
