James speaks to James about Bond, James Bond
Last Friday, Oct. 5 was designated International Bond Day to mark 50 years since the spy first onscreen appeared in Dr. No.
Bond, first imagined and penned by writer Ian Fleming, has been around longer than that, but that didn't stop the endless roundup of articles, list-cles and slideshows celebrating the dangerous ladies' man.
And so, to contribute our own Bond appreciation, here's James Mennie's interview with James Chapman, a man who's made a living out of studying British pop culture on TV and in film. (That's right, James interviews James about James.) You could say he wrote the book on the subject... it's called Licence To Thrill: A Cultural History of the James Bond Films.
Find out what Chapman thinks of Adele's Skyfall theme song, our love for all things espionage and James Bond's appearance in the Olympics with Her Majesty herself.
Skyfall, the 23rd film in the movie franchise, is the third Bond incarnation for Daniel Craig, and is out Nov. 9.
