Everyone’s done it, from Matt Damon to Aaron Rand to KISS... and not just celebrities, but thousands of average people have taken part.
It’s the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. You get nominated, and you either dump a bucket of ice cold water over your head and donate $10... or you forego the water and give $100.
And love it or hate it, the viral fundraiser has tallied over $70 million in research and support for ALS.
We wanted to talk to someone who has close ties to the cause. Vicki Proudfoot is the wife of Tony Proudfoot, former defensive back for the Als, Dawson professor and CJAD broadcaster. He passed away from the illness at the age of 61 in December 2010.
Tony founded the Tony Proudfoot Fund for ALS Research at the ALS Society of Quebec, which raised over $500,000 for research into the disease.
