A few hundred people turned out for yesterday's rally outside Pauline Marois' Montreal office to denounce Bill 14 and some suggest the event was a failure because there wasn't a bigger turnout.
The purpose of the event was to send a message, not only to the PQ, but to the Quebec Liberal party and the C.A.Q. that Bill 14 must be abolished and that mission was accomplished.
The rally received widespread media attention and we should salute those who turned out in cold weather as opposed to condemning the rally for a perceived lack of punch.
It was an effective demonstration and I look forward to other events aimed at convincing the government and the opposition to do away with this foul piece of legislation.
And make no mistake about it. This is not simply a language rights issue. It's a rights issue that would negatively affect Francophones AND Anglophones.
