Impact vow to "fight like hell", like "cornered dog"
Coach Jesse Marsch would give the shirt off his back for a win, but he tossed his suit jacket for the MLS referee Sorin Stoica during a stormy 3-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City at Saputo Stadium.
"I've never thrown my jacket before and I think it's obvious why," Marsch said live on CJAD after the game got away from the Impact who felt they were hosed by the officials again.
Frustrating calls and non-calls led the Impact to lapses of discipline and they squandered a 1-0 lead built early in the 2nd half when Valentin and Felipe worked a ball to Bernier who pounded for his 4th goal of the season (tying the injured Bernardo Corradi for the team lead).
Donovan Ricketts surrendered 2 goals on penalty kicks while Felipe and Davy Arnaud were yellow carded, resulting in suspensions for Sunday's game against Columbus (hear it live on CJAD 800 starting with the countdown to opening kickoff at 7PM).
The Impact confirmed the signing of Alessandro Nesta, the great Italian defender (pictured here on the left---president Joey Saputo on the right). Sources suggest the Impact will not make the 36-year old a DP (designated player) so that they'd have room for 2 more star additions.
