Impact suffer 1st preseason loss

The first loss of the Schaullibaum Era may have been a moral victory.

The Impact lost 2-1 against Orlando City SC down in Florida, but did not have Di Vaio, Nesta, Ferrari, captain Davy Arnaud or Evan Bush in action.

Making matters worse, after falling behind 2-0 in the 1st Half, Collen Warner was redcarded and the Impact played 60 minutes down a man.

Even so Calum Mallace continued his strong pre-season and scored the Impact's only goal at the 72nd minute.   MLS Super Draft selection Fernando Monge earned the assist.

"We took a bad red card that came from a mistake, but it wasn't the result that counted," said Impact head coach Marco Schallibaum. "After that, we fought for more than 60 minutes against a good side. I saw a lot of character in the second half and a team willing to battle."

One week from today, the Impact board a flight for Seattle and you'll hear the Season Opener live on CJAD 800 Saturday March 2nd with coverage starting at 10PM.
