Wozniak: "I dreamed about this since I was a little girl"
Blainville’s Aleksandra Wozniak was selected today to represent Canada at the London Olympics. It will be her Olympic debut, and says that accomplishing her childhood dream still hasn’t really sunk in.
“I’ll be competing in the Olympic games. I’ve dreamed about this since I was a little girl. First it was to become a professional tennis player and now this...it’s amazing”.
Wozniak's third-round appearance at the French Open lifted her to the cut-off point and she says the pressure can be pretty intense
“Tennis is a sport that there is a lot of pressure you put on yourself. For sure a lot of expectations and stuff but I think it’s more the stress and the pressure from yourself because you want to accomplish so much in your sports career. So you have to learn to deal with it and the support of your loved ones, family and friends, it’s very important.”
Also nominated were Vasek Pospisil,, as well as Olympic gold medallist Daniel Nestor and singles star Milos Raonic
The Olympic tennis event is July 28-Aug. 5.
