Alexandre Despatie may be stranded another night in a Madrid hospital and stuck in Spain into the weekend, but he is already targeting a return to the diving platform.

Diving Canada confirms to CJAD 800 the 3-time world champ will shoot for July 9 training camp in Italy for his return to the pool after striking his head and suffering a 10-cm deep gash on the head.

Mitch Geller says the accident has rippled through the entire Canadian diving team but could actually bring the athletes together and inspire them all the more as they watch and help Alexandre through this physical and emotional trial.
