The city of Cote St. Luc says it wants nothing to do with a plan from the STM to set up reserved bus lanes on Cavendish Blvd. and Cote St. Luc Rd.
Cote St. Luc mayor Anthony Housefather says they'll cause more problems than they solve, and that they won't run through his community.
"They are useless," he says. "Bus lanes are meant to allow buses to move through more quickly in congested areas, and Cote St. Luc Rd. and Cavendish, though Cote St. Luc, are not congested."
The new rush-hour bus lanes, to be set up by the end of next year, were announced last week as part of the STM's Strategic Transit Plan. The idea is to boost ridership and ease congestion.
