The terminally ill veteran whose family says was berated by a hospital orderly who did not want to be addressed in English will be moved out of the Gatineau Hospital and into an Ontario hospital.
The family of John Gervais says that after all the media attention that their case received, Veterans Affairs decided to step in.
An agent was assigned to get them whatever they need and they asked to be moved to the Bruyère Continuing Care Centre in Ottawa.
"The atmosphere has been poisoned for us, and we have this language burden just hanging over our heads," Steve Long, Gervais' son-in-law told CJAD.
"Mrs. Gervais wanted him moved to an area where she can communicate with everyone and where she can speak English without any concern."
In the meantime, Long says the family hasn't received any communication, or apology, from the Gatineau Hospital.
As it stands the orderly is still suspended with pay.
