One man in his fifties diedafter a concrete wall collapsed in Rosemont Thursday morning.
It happened at a home under construction at 6568 Marquette St., north of Beaubien,
The home didn't even have a foundation at the time of collapse, only a wall connected to the adjacent building.
Fire officials said the contractor was working for a foundation company, and went onto the worksite alone to retrieve tools.
The wall collapsed, the man's colleague was on the street screaming the man's name, according to witnesses.
"The wall was built, but there was nothing to support the wall," one neighbour noted. "This is a huge negligence."
Police said this is not a criminial matter, and the workers' safety board (CSST) has taken over the investigation.
