Canada leads the world in Movember money raised

No country on Earth has raised more money for the annual Movember campaign than Canada.

The official web site for the worldwide charity aimed at raising awareness about men's cancers reports 173,163 Canadians have raised more than $28 million so far, and counting — more than the United Kingdom ($21.9 million), Australia ($19.9 million), and the United States ($19.7 million).

Canada also ranks third behind the U.K. and the U.S. in terms of the number of particpants in the campaign, where men grow mustaches — some creative, some utterly forgettable, some harkening back to the adult movies of the 1970s — and solicit donations on social media, where the men track the growth of their so-called 'mos'.

Montreal Canadiens' president Geoff Molson managed to raise $13,600 for the campaign on his own.
