After officer responds to domestic violence call

The Sureté du Québec is investigating a shooting by a Longueuil police officer after she responded to a domestic violence call Tuesday night.

At around 9:45 PM many 911 calls came in regarding an altercation between a man and a woman on David Street in Old Longueuil. When the police officer arrived on the scene she found a man stabbing his partner on the street.

“The man tried to attack the police officer and that’s when she shot him in the leg,” a neighbor and witness, who called 911, told CJAD.

“They moved to the neighborhood about a month ago but they were always fighting. She had three kids, he was always under the influence and aggressive,” the witness added.

“We are investigating the shooting by the officer and the altercation between the couple,” Joyce Kemp with the SQ said.

The SQ says the man and woman is a couple in their late twenties to early thirties and that a third unidentified victim was also involved.

The police officer, suspect and woman were all transported to the hospital but remain in stable condition.
