Free public transit for seniors, tax freeze on horizon in Laval

The City of Laval will table it's budget next Monday and newly elected Mayor Marc Demers says he has every intention of keeping the tax cutting promises he made during the election campaign.

Demers pledged free public transit for seniors who currently travel with a discount using the OPUS card.

The cost of that promises has been estimated at about $600,000 annually.

Demers also promised to freeze residential property taxes in 2014 and to upgrade Laval's sporting facilities.
