Rescuers struggle to free stranded whales in Florida

Wildlife workers in south Florida are trying to coax about 40 pilot whales out of dangerously shallow water in the Everglades National Park.

Six of the whales have already died, and four had to be euthanized because they were in such bad shape.

The whales are stranded in a remote area 30-kilometres east of where they normally live.
