Several east-end residents were forced from their homes this morning after a brick wall on the outside of the building partially collapsed — and some of the residents might never be able to return.
The incident happened at a three-story building at 1631 Bourbonnière St., between Fontaine and Adam Sts. at around 10 a.m.
That building, and a neighboring building, were evacuated as a preventive measure, and a security perimeter was placed around the building.
Structural engineers from the city are on hand, to evaluate the extent of the damage.
A fire department spokesperson suggests the damage may be so severe that some of the residents might have to be permanently relocated.
