A march to honour the legacy of the late South African president Nelson Mandela is set to take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
It's to begin at the Cote-Ste-Catherine metro station in Cote-des-Neiges, and make its way to the park named in Mandela's honour near the corner of Vezina and Westbury.
Meanwhile, Montrealers are also being invited to show up at either the downtown YMCA (1440 Stanley St.), or the NDG YMCA (4335 Hampton Ave.) to sign a book of condolences between now and Mandela's state funeral on Sunday, Dec. 15. Children will also be allowed to leave drawings.
The books will be forwarded to the YMCA's national office, who will present them to the Mandela family through the Canadian Friends of Nelson Mandela.
The Canadian YMCA notes that Mandela's relationship with the organization dates back to his days as a young boxer in Soweto.
