Montreal police are calling on the public for help in locating a man in his 40s they believe is responsible for a string of armed robberies in depanneurs in the city's east end.
The robberies took place between Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, and took place in the Anjou, Montreal North, Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rosemont boroughs. The man would typically go up to the counter and ask the clerk for an item, and then he would order the clerk to empty the cash register, while he shows the clerk a gun tucked in his belt.
He would run off with the money, and order the clerk to wait 5 to 10 minutes before calling the police.
The suspect they're looking for is white and French-speaking, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He has short hair, and for most of his robberies he is said to have been wearing a kangaroo-type sweatshirt with gray, white and black checks.
