Two ex-caregivers charged with assaulting elderly patient

Two former staffers at a senior's residence in south shore St. Lambert are now facing charges tied to the death of one of the elderly patients in their care.

The women, 51 and 46 years old, are facing charges of aggravated assault, drug trafficking, and drugging the 87-year-old woman at the St-Lambert-sur-le-Golf long-term care facility over the summer.

Longueuil police say they were contacted about a problem at the home last month. Over the summer, family members of the deceased woman suspected there was a problem, and set up cameras in her room.

Late last month, police seized videos from the home, and tracked down the suspects based on that video evidence.

Whatever they get in court will not be enough. They should be made examples of for the next scum who do the same.
