Canada's intelligence agency has a theory about how three Quebec license plates may have ended up in the underground bomb-making bunker of jihadist rebels in Syria.
The plates can be seen in a video believed to have been shot a few weeks ago in the Homs area of Syria.
CSIS has told La Presse that the Quebec plates may have come from stolen cars shipped through the Port of Montreal to Lebanon, then used in Syria where the plates were taken by fighters as battle trophies.
Dozens of Canadians have traveled to Syria to fight alongside various factions of rebels battling the Assad regime.
CSIS wants to know whether there are any direct links between the rebels and the thieves stealing cars in Quebec.
