UPDATED Montreal-area slammed with pre-winter storm

By the looks of of the weather outside, it's hard to believe it's not officially winter yet.

Snow began falling in Montreal Saturday evening, and the precipitation is expected to continue throughout much of the day Sunday.

Transport Quebec crews are out clearing snow from the highways, but the snow is falling so quickly it doesn't take long for it to accumulate once again.

The City of Montreal also has about 1000 pieces of equipment clearing snow - beginning with major arteries.

It is estimated Montreal will get approximately 30 centimetres of snow by the time the storm clears out.

Dozens of accidents were reported in the Montreal area - none serious - before 9:00 a.m.. Most were cases of motorists loosing control and crashing into medians and ditches.

Spokespeople with Transport Quebec and the city suggest staying off the road unless necessary.

Air traffic is also impacted, you can check your flight status here.

The STM reported most busses are on time, however delays are possible given the situation on the road.

If you have any photos of the blast of wintery weather, please send them to yourstory@cjad.com.

I would like to know where are the snow removal trucks. Haven't seen them yet as we are still trying to clean up from last weeks 15 cm.. Running out of places to dump this 15 cm and plus snow.

The signs should be out at this time for removal operations to begin.
They crews will have had enough warning to prepare.
I hope that they are not waiting for the warm weather on friday to help them along but would not be surprised if that was the case.
    Let's get those potholes exposed.
