Laval daycare reopens five weeks after motorist crashed into it

More than a month after a motorist crashed through the front of a daycare centre in a strip mall in Laval's Chomedey district, the Face à Face daycare has re-opened — at the same spot.

The daycare's owner, Christina Stregas, says the kids had no trouble going back to the scene of the scary incident.

"They adjusted very well. It was an easy transition," Stregas told CJAD's Barry Morgan. "The kids were happy and they weren't really thinking about what had happened."

Stregas herself, though, says the incident will probably stay with her forever.

"It's in my mind all the time, It's something that you don't get over," she says. "When you hear something don't get over it in one month."

Three children were injured when a 80-year-old motorist who apparently, mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, and crashed through the front window of the daycare on St-Martin Blvd.

All three have long since been released from hospital, including one child who was pinned under the vehicle for a time.

She's now recovering from serious facial injuries at home.
