Frank Klopas becomes Impact's new coach

The Montreal Impact has named former Chicago Fire coach Frank Klopas as the team's new head coach and director of player personnel, replacing the fired Marco Schällibaum, whose future with the MLS club has been the subject of rumours for the past week.

The Greek-born Klopas signed a three-year deal to coach the Impact. He was named technical director in Chicago in 1998, after playing briefly for them in the mid-90s. He coached the Fire between 2011 and last year.

The team also announced their three assistants — Mauro Biello (assistant coach), Youssef Dahha (goalkeeper coach) and Paolo Pacione (fitness coach) — will remain with the team.
