It'll cost more to ride the bus and metro in 2014

LA PRESSE

It's become an annual ritual in Montreal — the STM has announced it'll hike fares in the new year.

Starting in January, the cost of a regular monthly pass will go up to $2.50 to $79.50. A reduced fare pass will go up $2.25, to $47.25.

A bloc of 10 rides — what we used to call a strip of 10 tickets — will cost $25.50, up $1. The reduced fare 10-ride bloc is also up a buck, to $14.50.

The cost for a single ticket remains $3, and $2 for a single reduced-fare ticket.

Also remaining unchanged — the three-day tourist pass. That will remain at $18.

It is still considerably less expensive than a Toronto Metropass.

We are paying more and more, sure it's still cheaper compared to others but that doesn't mean that its worth 80$ a month, with price increases the STM should offer a better and more reliable services.
