Montreal city council to consider dress code

Alexander Norris

It's not quite on par with the level of debate over the Marois government's proposed Charter of Values, but Montreal city council has decided to consider imposing a dress code for members.

The issue came up at Monday's city council meeting.

Montreal North councillor and the Team Coderre caucus president Jean-Marc Gibeau was upset because Project Montreal councillor Alex Norris was not wearing a jacket.

There is no dress code at city hall, but Gibeau says there should be a certain measure of decorum and so a committee will be created to study the issue and make recommendations.

For his part, Norris says he meant no disrespect and simply removed his jacket because he was warm.

Wasting a phenomenal amount of time on utter nonsense while our bridges are crumbling, our businesses are struggling, and the city is off the provincial and federal radars. Who are these people? Weren't they squabbling about ties not so long ago? And now it's jackets. Dress like professionals and *maybe* you might start acting like professionals!

Yep, this is what is important. NOT.
They are going to create a committee to study the issue?
    Just unbelievable.

"Alex Norris was not wearing a jacket"
MAYBE if he wasn't wearing his pants......but no jacket !
I recommend all members be naked for their meetings.....now that's transparency !
