Residents of Saint-Rémi have been advised not to drink their tap water.
The system has been contaminated with water that has leaked from a cooling tower water tank at a local chemical company.
Officials blame a valve failure and the system is being flushed and cleaned.
Untill then the water is not fit for human consumption and boiling the water will to make it safe.
Saint-Rémi officials are advising residents to use bottled water for drinking and cooking.
Tap water is safe for bathing and doing laundry.
