Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre held an open house at City Hall this afternoon, where he greeted members of the public and posed for pictures with Santa,
And while he insisted today was a day for citizens, he did take time to meet with reporters to discuss what's store for 2014.
He says he is looking forward to accomplishing several big goals next year.
One of them is the continued streamlining of Montreal's civil service.
"I'm going to focus on infrastructure, the budget and administrative reform," he said. He also wants "to reshape the way we all work together and [focus] more on coherence and efficiency."
He adds that he wants to restore Montrealers' pride in their city again, and that that begins with new tough anti-corruption laws.
He also touched on the death of Montreal mafia boss Vito Rizzuto.
Coderre says he has full confidence that Montreal police won't let any possible after-effects of the don's death spill over and possibly endanger the public.
