A tense situation in an area of Montreal North on Thursday.
A man in his 20's is facing charges following a police operation.
He allegedly threatened a woman by phone and kept police at bay on Allard street.
The ordeal began at about 2 overnight and ended early in the afternoon.
"Finally at 1:35, the man gave himself up when the police approached the apartment and were able to contact him. No harm done, the man is under our custody", said police spokesman Andre Leclair.
The suspect surrendered when the SWAT team was moving in.
Police say he has a history of weapons possession.
