Former Surete du Quebec police officer missing

The Surete du Quebec has confirmed that a man missing since Thursday, December 30th, was a provincial police officer, although officials would not confirm that he use to hold a key position within Hammer, Quebec's anti-corruption squad.

49 year old Eric Martin is white, 5'11" (182 cm) and weighs 150 pounds (68 kg).

Martin left home in Pointe aux Trembles at 10 30 pm on December 30th and has not been seen since.

Daniel Lacoursiere with the Montreal Police force says Martin was not dressed for winter, and was only wearing pyjamas and slippers.

His family fears for his safety, because he could be suicidal .

A search was mounted with helicopters, all terrain vehicles with snowmobiles and with the help of the fire department, they scoured the banks of the Riviere des Prairies, but the man wasn't located.
