Singer Neil Young rips into government regarding Alberta oilsands

Singer Neil Young has launched a blistering attack on the Harper government and Alberta's oilsands.

Young told a news conference on Sunday as far as the governing Conservatives are concerned, "money is number one, integrity isn't even on the map.''

The news conference was to kick off the first of four concerts aimed at raising support for an Alberta First Nations that is fighting development of Alberta's oilsands.

Young, who said he recently visited one of the oilsands sites, compared the pollution to Hiroshima, the Japanese city where the first atomic bomb was dropped during the Second World War.

Young says Canada's leaders are killing the people of the First Nations and their blood will be on "modern Canada's hands.''

The veteran Canadian singer says he wants his grandchildren to be able to look up and see a blue sky, but all he sees is a government that is "out of control.''

Who really cares what a washed up singer has to say.

It's not as if old Neil has a firm grasp of reality. Hypocrisy for sure, but nit reality.

And by the way Neil 'ole boy, just how much 'carbon' has your tour used in planes, buses, etc.? Or is THAT ok?

@Ray S Washed up singer? You mean old and experienced, right?

He's the only one speaking up on this important matter and yet Justin Bieber is getting all the praise for doing absolutely nothing.

I think it's YOU who does not have a grasp on reality, as you do not know this Canadian legend and you do not understand the difference between carbon emissions and the permanent damage of oil sands.

Neil, go take a look at Virginia's coal mines and see what they've done to their communities.
The U.S. would love to see the Oil Sands project closed will keep those filthy coal mines in business and prices high.
Always look to see who gains before marching off to're being used!
