A Calgary country music singer is offering to give away his house for free to a person or family in need.

Jason Hastie has posted an ad on Kijiji saying he needs the three-bedroom bungalow, built in 1952, removed from the property by the end of February so he can build a new place.

He says whoever is chosen will only have to pay the cost of having the building moved, and he's even willing to chip in $1,000 toward that.

Hastie says in the ad that he has lived in the house for 10 years and has done many renovations to it.

He says it would be great if it could go to someone who lost their own home in last summer's floods.

The 1,200 square foot home features original hardwood, a recently renovated kitchen, skylight and is wired for a security system.

Hastie adds that they are also giving away the log garage, which he suggests could be made into a cabin.

The ad has already been viewed more than 85,000 times.
