Convicted murderer becomes Good Samaritan

A convicted murderer appears to have become a Good Samaritan during a bloody confrontation at a halfway house in St. Michel early Monday morning — and for his efforts, he suffered a stab wound to the stomach.

It appears 65-year-old Claude Bolduc was trying to save a woman working at the Carrefour Nouveau Monde from a knife-wielding sex maniac who was also living there.

29-year-old Sylvain Desrochers was arrested shortly after the incident and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder.

Bolduc is recovering in hospital.

In 1982, Bolduc was sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife by shooting her in the head. He had been a resident of the halfway houses since 2009.
