The borough of St Laurent says workers at an area Sears call center who are losing thier jobs will be getting help.
The retailer is letting go some 800 people in St Laurent.
"As soon as we heard the news yesterday, we contacted Emploi-Quebec to be able to see how we can facilitate and help these workers and also it's important to be able to make sure that Sears Canada helps them refind new jobs", said borough mayor Alan De Sousa in an interview with CTV News.
It seems the jobs are heading overseas.
"A lot of people were crying", said one employee following the harsh news.
The effect of increased competition on the bottom line has led Sears to shed jobs.
