Laval police looking for teenage jewel thief

Police in Laval are looking for a young man who entered the Birks store in Carrefour Laval earlier this month and made off with a sizable amount of the store's jewelry.

They say the suspect, about 15 or 16 years old, walked into the store on Jan. 6 and asked the clerk to see some pairs of diamond earrings.

He supposedly ran out of the store, having stolen three pairs of earrings worth close to $22,000.

The suspect is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs about 185 pounds. He has short, dark hair and has two cuts on the left side of his face.
