Two Canadians among those killed in Afghan suicide bombing

16 killed in all at Kabul restaurant

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird's office is confirming that two Canadians were among those who died in a suicide attack at a restaurant in Afghanistan's capital.

Baird says Canada strongly condemns what he calls the "cowardly terrorist attack'' in Kabul.

Baird's office says further information on those killed in the attack is not being made available.

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside the restaurant that was filled with foreigners and affluent Afghans.

Officials say at the same time two gunmen entered through the back door and opened fire.

In all 16 people are confirmed dead.

The Taliban claimed responsibility within an hour of Friday's attack.
