Chateauguay blue cols: budget trumps safety

If you had a fender-bender due to slippery road conditions in Chateauguay on Monday, the union representing blue collar workers says you can blame the city.

The union says that Chateauguay officials decided to save money by not calling in workers on overtime to salt the streets early Monday morning.

It says accidents resulted and at least one person was injured.

The union says the city should not be trying to balance its budget by compromising citizen safety.

Good old mayor at it again.... And this is who you voted in folks. You didn't learn the first time that she doesn't care about the citizens. Did you think that was going to change?

And what about the poor kids walking to school? ESPECIALLY since Chateauguay doesn't offer sidewalks. Lucky that none were hit by a sliding car or worse A BUS!

@LMAO Chateauguay used to contract out certain aspects of snowclearing but in recent years they have even stopped using bulk transporters to haul snow away, so we are saving in paying them while a blue col sits in the snowblower waiting for one of the cities 6 dump trucks to get back...
