Survivor of L'Isle-Verte fire saved others

84-year old Arnaud Coté lived in newer section of seniors' home ravaged by fire

As officials dig through the debris and ice to get final counts of the deceased and missing, some survivors are living with the shock and uncertainty of what lies ahead.

84-year old Arnaud Coté is one of the survivors of the L'Isle-Verte seniors' home fire this past week.

He lived in the newer section of the building with sprinklers; the one still standing.

He says he woke up to fire alarms and thick smoke and immediately awakened three women in his wing.

Cote says he was one of the only residents that was physically strong enough to walk out and help others, adding he lost everything and needs to start over.

He just signed a lease with a nearby residence, but for now is staying at a motel.
