Red Cross collects $300,000 for l'Isle-Verte recovery efforts

The Red Cross says it's collected $300,000 to help the town of l'Isle-Verte recover after last week's deadly seniors home fire.

Right now, Red Cross representatives are working with local authorities to establish where the greatest needs are.

The money will be going primarity to residents of the Résidence du Havre who survived the fire and are now homeless — and who left many of their belongings behind.

Money would also be going to assist the victims' families, the staff at the home who are suddenly without jobs, and to the community itself, as it continues to come to grips with the tragedy.
