Reports say longtime politician Yves Ryan passed away last night at the age of 85 at Hôtel-Dieu hospital. A heart condition is reportedly the reason for his passing.
Ryan served as mayor of Montreal North from 1963 until 2001.
He was a very popular figure within his city, often running unopposed and never losing an election until the city mergers he firmly opposed.
He was former Quebec Liberal leader Claude Ryan's younger brother.
