Provincial police are investigating a family tragedy that shook the small town of Sainte-Croix in the Chaudière-Appalaches region over the weekend.
A mother, her teenage daughter and her new husband were killed. Another child is in critical condition and the father is the only suspect in this triple homicide.
The Sûreté du Quebec believes Martin Godin (54) killed his ex wife Nancy Samson (44), her new husband Benoit Daigle (39) and Medora Godin, his 13-year-old daughter last Saturday.
Sûreté du Québec spokeswoman Audrey-Anne Bilodeau says the 911 call came in at around 9 PM. The mother and her new partner were found dead outside their home. Reports say the mother made the call before she died.
“At first it was too early to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, however yesterday investigators were trying to see if a love triangle is responsible for all of this,” Bilodeau said.
Police believe the father tried to kill himself after the homicide.
He is in critical condition along with his 11-year-old daughter who lived through the attack.
The bodies of the daughters were found in the father's home in Saint-Isidore.
Autopsies will be done over the next few days.
