Katimavik-like program for Quebec youth

The Marois government will present a white paper on youth later today and there's a report that it will set up a Katimavik-like program for young Quebecers trying to figure out where they're going in life.

La Presse says the civic service program will have a budget of 10-million dollars a year to place people aged 18 to 24 in community service jobs for several months.

The program is designed for young people not in school and not working, who'll be paid just a small stipend for their work.

After completing the program, they'll be expected to move on either to the workforce or go back to school.
