A water main break in Côte-Des-Neiges caused the evacuation of three homes and some road closures early Tuesday morning.
The break occurred at around 3:40 AM on Carlton Avenue between Victoria and Lavoie streets.
About 15 firefighters worked to pump three feet of water out of the basements, which caused the temporary closures of Carlton, Victoria and Lavoie streets.
The city aqueduct team closed the water valves and said it would be working to fix the pipes for most of the day.
Residents on Carlton Street will be without water until the problem is resolved. The street is also closed to vehicles.
Evacuated residents found refuge with neighbors.
