CN conductors, yard workers could strike as of Saturday

Canada's largest railway has received notice that one of its major unions could go on strike as early as Saturday.

Canadian National Railway says the Teamsters union has given the 72-hour notice required for a legal strike to begin shortly after midnight Friday night, Eastern Time.

The notice came after the union's membership rejected a tentative contract covering 3,000 CN employees, including conductors and yard workers.

Talks on resolving the issue began on Monday before the union gave its strike notice Tuesday evening.
