Conseil du Patronat okay with minimum wage hike

Quebec's largest employers group says the minimum wage increase announced yesterday by the Marois government is reasonable, given the circumstances.

The wage will go up 20-cents an hour in May, to $10.35.

The minimum wage for tip earners will rise 15-cents an hour, to $8.90.

The Conseil du Patronat says that's enough to protect the purchasing power of workers while at the same time respecting employers' ability to pay.
