New patients' rights group in Quebec

A new group has been formed aimed at protecting patients' rights.

The goal for L'Alliance des Patients pour la Santé, says the group, is to give patients a stronger voice.

A spokesman for the new group says patients must be at the heart of the health-care system, adding that's not really the case anymore.

Paul Brunet, who heads a similar group, Le Conseil pour la Protection des Malades, welcomes the new group.

"We always need the most advocacy in the system and good for them if they think they can help out, certainly that we need all the hands that we can take", said Brunet in an interview with CJAD News.

A spokesman for the new group says it wasn't created to replace Brunet's group, that le Conseil has done a remarkable job.

What powers do these groups or organizations have? Can they stop idiots that discharge elderly people at 2:00 am in their slippers? Can they stop separatists that yell at people for not wanting to speak English? We must know what they can and can't do, or why bother.

Sorry but there is no money for hospitals or patience because the queen of Quebec needs her helicopter rides to make her feel special.
