Snow removal operations about to start

It's that time again.

Snow removal operations begin at 7 Saturday morning.

Not all boroughs, however, begin removal in the next couple of days.

City spokesman Jacques-Alain Lavalées says it seems some boroughs are waiting because of upcoming mild temperatures, which would help melt the snow.

The removal phase should be finished within about four days.

"When the full 19 boroughs are in operation, we're talking about 25-hundred pieces of equipment and 3-thousand people. I cannot give an exact figure as we're speaking. I still don't know which boroughs will be in full operation this weekend", Lavalée told CJAD News in a late day interview.

Lavalée is reminding motorists to respect the orange no parking signs.

"Once again, we ask cooperation from the citizens to get their cars out of the way to respect the orangy signs that we're putting up. On average, it stalls the snow-clearing convoy by 10 minutes", added Lavalée.

Here in Plateau Mt Royal they have a new trick. NO PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF ALL THE STREETS AT THE SAME TIME ! Funny Hah hah hah. Do we all have to find private parking places and take taxis and limos to our parked cars? How about what merchants and restaurants that are left? We can't get to many places in the Plateau by Metro and walking on the unplowed sidewalks is great for young fit yuppies and bobos but the rest of the Plateau residents haven't ALL been driven out YET.
