Montreal school crossing guards want more paid holidays

Montreal school crossing guards have been negotiating with the city to get more paid holidays during Christmas time.

All other city workers get the additional days and so do most guards in Quebec.

The union says there's a reason for the guards want.

"The reason is the unemployment insurance reform that is beginning to hit the school guards, the restrictions will most likely hit them hard come next summer" said union spokesman Sebastien Goulet

Goulet adds it's unclear why the city has been, as he put it, unresponsive.

Talks have been ongoing since 2012.
