Teen arrested in threat text case

A 14-year-old boy was arrested at a Pierrefonds high school after allegedly sending a death threat to a female student via text message.

The arrest took place on the afternoon of Feb. 12.

Police believe a relationship gone sour between the two teens may have led to the message being sent.

The case has been forwarded to the Crown's office, and the boy is expected to be handed an order to appear in court.

A police spokesman said there is no difference between a threat uttered verbally or sent digitally.

It's still unknown whether the child will be charged with a criminal offence.

The school cannot be identified. It does have a zero-tolerance policy on bullying.
